Hey all, Lantz here from Radix Media.  In places where Spring weather has broken through the clouds and the wintery wonderland, I hope you’re enjoying the sun!  As for us in the Pacific Northwest…well, it’s coming, hopefully sooner than later!

I wanted to share some important news with you all regarding the future of the project.

In early June 2012, Radix Media will be relocating…to Brooklyn, New York!

It’s a huge move, and as stressful as it is figuring out all of the logistics, it’s also very exciting for me. Both my partner and I are from the east coast originally, and we long to be back there, closer to our families and within reach of many bustling Northeastern cities.   But this is not the end of Radix!  I’ve already got a place to move my shop into, and although I’ll need to get new equipment all over again, I hope that this will allow me to upgrade to a nicer press and purchase particular pieces of bindery equipment that will allow me to diversify the type of projects Radix can print and publish.

If you were planning on printing your next project through Radix – now is the perfect time!  It will be quite a feat to move across the country and start from scratch.  Your business will help me get established in my new home.  Radix will be fully operational in Portland until May 10, 2012.  If you have any information on offset printing equipment, bindery equipment, people to connect with on the east coast, please e-mail me at info@radixmedia.org.  I’m also looking for low-interest loans from my community, in order to help Radix begin anew.  If you have money to loan (or donate!), please get in touch!

It’s quite possible that I’ll be selling my current equipment to someone in the community who will continue offering these services, under a different name.  I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted about that.

I feel extremely grateful that I’ve gotten to work with all of the great people that I’ve worked with in Portland and can’t wait to hook up with people in New York City for your short-run printing needs!

We’ve just finished printing and binding two zines for The Art of Dismantling, a radical artisan collective and ongoing interview series.  We’re pretty happy with how they came out!  If you’re not familiar with the project, you should definitely check out the website.  But in a nutshell, the zine series is conducted by collective member Chris Richards, talking to radical artists about how they use their work to instigate the change they want to see in the world.  Each issue also features a communique from him, brief essays about the role of art in social justice movements.

Great news, folks – we’ve just added a bunch of new stuff to our Etsy store!  This includes the debut our brand new Animal Greeting Cards, available as singular cards, a set of three cards, a five-pack of one type of card, or a mega-pack of 15 total cards.  Each card is printed on 100% recycled paper and comes with an envelope.  Check out some images below!

Great news, everyone.  You can now purchase Towards a Less Fucked Up World: Sobriety and Anarchist Struggle as well as She Said via AK Press!  Of course, you can still order directly through Radix Media, and our Etsy Store, but if you find yourself perusing AK Press and ordering some books, you now have the option to scoop up those zines, too!  As always, bookstores, infoshops and distros can order our published works (including posters and postcards) at wholesale prices.  There is a 50% discount on orders of 10 zines or more (the order can be mixed) and the order must be paid up front.  Radix Media postcards are sold in bundles of 25.  Contact us at orders@radixmedia.org to set up an order!

Also, the Radical Printer Poster Series is now available through the webstore of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative!  The posters are sold as a complete set for $15.  The Justseeds store is a great place to do your holiday shopping – there’s plenty of amazing art to get for the ones you love!

As we all know, there’s a little bit of a stigma around the word “anarchist.”  A lot of folks wonder, just what do anarchists want, anyway?  The simple answer to that is – we want freedom!
